Subject: December 16th Night for Swimmers & Parents
Dear KCSA Families,
Tuesday, December 16th Safe Sport training together at home.
We had hoped to meet this requirement through our in-person event; however, USA Swimming now requires each swimmer to complete the appropriate course online under their own account.
Please see the instructions below and review the attached PDF for step-by-step guidance.
Athletes:
- Each swimmer must log in using their own USA Swimming account.
- Complete the age-specific Safe Sport training:
- Ages 5–12: Safe Sport for KIDS (5–12)
- Ages 13–17: Safe Sport for Youth Athletes (13–17)
- So far, 49 athletes have completed this – thank you so much!!
Parents:
- One parent per family is also required to complete the Parent’s Guide to Misconduct in Sport.
- Log in using the same account linked to your swimmer(s).
- So far, 56 parents have completed this—thank you!

Instructions for individual child account set up in USA Swimming platform
Note: The child’s account will need a separate/unique email, which will be used to receive a confirmation code to finalize and activate the account.
Log into USA Swimming account at hub.usaswimming.org
You should see your registered child names listed undesr your account
- NOTE: As listed “Log in accounts can be created for 8–17 year old family members”
Select “View” in the child’s name tile
On the right side of the new window should be the option to “Create a Login Account” for the child.
Follow the steps required to create a Login specific to the child.
- NOTE: You will need to provide a unique email address for the child (you cannot re-use the parent’s address from the parent’s account). A confirmation code/link will be sent to the email address to finalize setup.
Keep copy of child’s log in and password for your records!!
Instructions to view required Safe Sport lesson in USA Swimming platform
After child’s account has been successfully set up…
- Return to the original USA Swimming log in page.
- NOTE: You may need to log out of your parent account to return to a new log in page.
- Log in with Child’s user and password.
- In the top right ribbon bar, select “Education” and a drop down will appear.
- Select “Course Catalog”
- In Catalog options choose “Safe Sport”
- Scroll down to age-appropriate Safe Sport lesson (ages 5-12 or 13-17) and select “VIEW INFO”
- NOTE: The system will validate your selection based on the birth date entered in the child’s account registration.
- Then select “Start” to view the lesson video.
- Read and Agree to terms and conditions.
- The course should be viewed with a parent or guardian and takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
- HANG ON ! This course should be done with a parent or guardian. Are you sitting with a parent or guardian now ? Select YES or NO
- Once completed, the platform will register course completion.
- NOTE: To fully complete, user must complete the short “optional” survey at the end.
- NOTE: Double check that you see the below “Complete-Passed” and Expiration Date
